General information to help you prepare your travel

‍Visa & entry

Croatia is a Member State of the European Union, and on 1 January 2023, it also became part of the Schengen area. Travellers from other Schengen countries do not have to show their identity card or passport when traveling to or from Croatia if they come from countries belonging to the Schengen area.

All participants attending the meeting are requested to have a valid passport or ID document and, if required, a visa. Applications for visas should be submitted to the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in the country in which the participants reside, with reference to the Quality 2026 Conference.

Information regarding the visa regime for visiting Croatia are available on the official web-site of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic Croatia or by directly contacting Croatian consular offices around the world, listed here: (MVEP • Croatian consular offices around the world). Generally, citizens of European countries, regardless of whether their countries are Member States of the EU or not, do not need a visa to come to Croatia. The only exceptions to this rule are the Russian Federation, Belarus and the Republic of Turkey. Citizens of most non-European countries will probably need to obtain a visa pursuant to the agreements concluded between Croatia and their country. Information about the Croatian visa regime is available here: (MVEP • Overview of the visa regime).

If necessary, Croatian Bureau of Statistics can provide a letter to facilitate obtaining a visa. Please indicate this need on the registration form or contact the Conference Team at Q2026HR@dzs.hr

Letters of invitation

An invitation letter is required to apply for a visa. Upon request, invitation letters will be provided to the authors and presenters of accepted papers, posters, keynotes, tutorials, and panels, and to European Conference on Quality in Official Statistics (Q2026) attendees who have completed their registration and payment process. After the registration and payment are completed, an invitation letter may be requested. With this letter, participants will be able to obtain a visa for the period of the European Conference on Quality in Official Statistics (Q2026).

Emergencies

The organizer does not provide any medical, travel or personal insurance. The participants are expected to cover the costs of any medical expenses incurred in Croatia.
